Patty Duke and George Takei have teamed up to urge Americans to use the Social Security Administration's online services. Entertainment icons Patty Duke and Takei appear in a series of new video clip asking "baby boomers" to apply for medicare and other services, reports AL.com.
In one of eight new commercials, Star Trek actor George asks Patty, "Won't filing for Social Security benefits online be confusing?", to which Duke replies, "It's simple and easy. It's so easy, even Kirk could do it". Michael J. Astrue, Commissioner of Social Security, spoke about the influence that Duke and Takei will have on audiences, saying, "We now have a fun new way to get the word out. Having George join forces with Patty will help us reach the millions of people who can take advantage of this convenient way of doing business with Social Security". In another of the new commercials, Duke says, "Young people can help their grandparents with retiring online or getting extra help with their Medicare prescription drug costs".
Patty Duke first rose to prominence after winning the Academy Award for 'Best Supporting Actress' at the age of 16. She went on to star in the 1967 movie 'Valley of the Dolls' and was elected President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1985 to 1988.
