Burqa ban Is Unveiled

Paris France's ban on full-face veils, a first in Europe, is to take effect today. Anyone caught wearing a burqa in public could be fined $216.

Rachid Nekkaz, a Muslim property dealer urging women to defy the new law, has offered to help pay the fines and invited opponents of the law to attend a silent prayer today at Notre Dame Cathedral.

France has more than 5 million Muslims.
