Jackie Chan is not dead but is the latest celebrity to have fallen victim to an online death hoax.
"Jackie is alive and well," a message on the martial arts and action film star's official Facebook page said. "He did not suffer a heart attack and die, as was reported on many social networking sites and in online news reports. Jackie is fine and is busy preparing for the filming of his next movie."
The name of the film in question was not released. Chan, 56, recently starred in a 2010 movie reboot of "The Karate Kid" with actor Will Smith's son Jaden.
Chan is also known for his parts in the "Rush Hour" film series and the movie "Shanghai Noon" with Owen Wilson, who was himself the target of an online death hoax last year.
Chan was seen in a photo alongside Yuji Kumamaru, Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong. The picture, posted on his website, said the two met on Tuesday, March 29.
